Honestly, I thought Daigian did quite well. The most common trait that Verin, Damer and Alivia shared was their respective ages and maturity in comparison to other members of the retinue. Egwene does the same thing - when she arranges her Circles, the leaders are those with the most experience with channeling and composure, whom weren't always the strongest or most brilliant.
Daigian kept her composure after Eben was destroyed whereas a lesser experienced White Sister might have been wracked with shock and easy pickings. Instead, she was successful.
