From Jason from Dragonmount's review it sounds like he is going to get a lot worse before he gets better too.

But I became convinced once he is reunited with Moiraine his hard outer coating will shatter and he'll make a turn for the better, what with her being the first name on his list and all. But even if that happens would there be enough time for him to change before the Last Battle?
