"Harry Potter"'s strength is that Rowling wrote a coming of age story that is told from a single POV and covers one major plotline per book. At the end of each book, except the last three, all the loose ends are tied up and there is a satisfying explanation for any outstanding questions or issues.

I don't think you can honestly compare it to "Wheel of Time". Even "The Lord of the Rings" is a more straightforward and more tightly plotted story than "The Wheel of Time", and tLotR is more complex than WoT is!
