When Rand balefired the guy he sent to Graendel (can't remember his name), her Compulsion was lifted, right? So I was wondering how far this would go, undoing what you just did.

Lets say that Graendel killed the messenger instead. If Rand still Balefired the s**t out of her, would that guy come back to life? I know that every Aes Sedai except Nyn says that you can't heal death, but they always said stilling and gentling were permanent too.

Maybe I missed something, but there doesn't seem to be any evidence that this wouldn't happen, besides the Aes Sedqai claim, and we all know they aren't exactly infalliable.

My understanding about how Balefire works is that it actually kills the target back in time, so that the things that the target originally did after that point no longer happened, since the target was no longer around to do them (being dead).

So basically, using balefire to kill someone who had just killed someone else, would indeed bring the dead person back to life. That actually happened with Mat and Aviendha who were killed by Rahvin and returned to life when Rand balefired him.

However I don't think this qualifies as actually "healing death". Rather by killing someone with balefire the channeler basically "alters reality" in such a way that the dead person NEVER DIED in the first place since as far as the pattern is concerned the killer of the dead person died BEFORE he did the actual killing.

Thats my view anyway.
