I'd rather not spend any more time than necessary thinking about Gawyns' part in the story, but I do think that, the Pattern being what it is, he'll "see Rand die" and perhaps Egwene will hide the truth from him so Rand can secretly escape to live a life in obscurity.
"Those who think they have no time for bodily exercise will sooner or later have to find time for illness."
So, what was that prophecy about Gawyn either saving Egwene or breaking her neck?
