But they did serve a number of purposes, like bringing Perrin and the Seanchan together. But I never understood why Therava and her group didn't just rip Sevanna to shreds and take control themselves. Sevanna was a huge disappointment ... always wondered what that ter'angreal Sammael gave her was supposed to do!
And if not that, then it was because Sevanna was technically the 'clan chief' by virtue of being Couladin's widow and wanting to marry Rand. I think.
Being Aiel, the Shaido still follow Aiel customs.
What exactly was the ter'angreal? Was it a stasis box?
Sevanna flaunted Aiel customs so blatantly that I have no idea why the other women continued to follow her. Sevanna was the most annoying character I have ever read in any fantasy series. Even now, I still can't possibly fathom the reason for her huge story arc. It just didn't make sense.
Formerly Mat Bloody Cauthon on Wotmania, blessed be its name

seems far more likely that Asmodean just laid some Compulsion on Couladin

I hate the Shaido far more than Perrins reaction to their kidnapping of Faile.
