galgan's out, but maybe... newyorkersedai Send a noteboard - 07/06/2010 07:01:12 PM
it's dimly possible that there's another FS working the Seanchan Empire from their own mainland. It would still raise the question of why Semi was the one to destroy the ruling family - the other one could've done that for her. It's far from a smooth idea, though - and I strongly agree that 2 FS on one territory sounds wrong...

Still, I figure that the Shadow, with their global goals and reach, would have a contingency plan to use what must be a massive army. And you can view the Randland Seanchan and the Mainland Seanchan as two territories, given the Seanchan lack of channeling. Does anyone have an idea what % of Seanchan troops were sent to Randland?

This may mean nothing but that I'm reading too much into the text: SH's words about pawns may refer to the Seanchan collectively, or it may refer to Tuon and Suroth and/or Invading Seanchan. It's unlikely that Demi is this potential power in the mainland, but I'm sure he could use the chaos there to his advantage. He's the one who got the White Tower, Ashaman, and Shaido into one big mess over Rand, right?

It was previously reported that "Sanderson said that we had seen Mesaana's alter-ego on screen as of Knife of Dreams, but that we had not seen Demandred's alter-ego on screen as of Knife of Dreams. Sanderson would not elaborate on whether Demandred's alter-ego had been seen in The Gathering Storm — Sanderson didn't want to narrow down the suspects for us if Demandred really had appeared in The Gathering Storm."
Galgan was seen in KoD.

It also doesn't really fit with Demandred's comments in TGS, prologue, that his rule is secure, or that he gathers for war, since Fortuona rules the Seanchan.

Also SH's comment to Semirhage in TGS that she lost valuable pawns makes no real sense if Demandred would still control the Seanchan (and it's in itself unlikely that there were two Forsaken among the Seanchan).
