I simply refuse to believe that a Forsaken like Arangar spends *all* of her time attending to Egwene. Even including meetings with her BA lackey, Delana is probably quite busy, so Arangar should have a good 19-22 hours in a day for whatever things she wants to do herself. Unlike Semi in Seanchan territory, no one could detect Arangar, so she could just come and go as she chose. Seriously, she would only have had stuff to do for like 4-5 hours in a day, tops.

I've never heard any power comparisons of Arangar or Taim. Taim is supposed to hold nearly as much as Rand, while Arangar was supposed to be quite strong in the AoL, but I heard no measure of him. There's that Angreal thing, though, and I believe RJ said that you could fool people as to how strong you actually are...

I do agree, though, that "impersonation of other FS" was what Arangar meant by "playing my own game." For my money, it was obviously Cyndane who sent those Trollocs...

Taim's special knowledge could easily be explained in the way you describe. But him calling them "so-called Aiel?" That's just too much, y'know? If we're going to be told that he picked up that phrase from his boss, and gets a hoot out of saying "let the lord of chaos rule," then that will be a real asinine move on the part of the authors.

I did not mean to toss my idea out as some certainty - I just mentioned I was working up a Taimangar theory. Working up means trying to find support for, which means that I've been going through the books to make sure it's not flat-out impossible. I'm not certain yet that the text doesn't rule it out, as it does with Moridin and Osangar...

That is even more unlikely than the idea that Moridin might pose as Taim (which is also clearly wrong, IMO).

Taim is the most time at the BT, while Aran'gar was sent by SH to the Rebel AS, where she stays the most time. Aran'gar simply can't be at two places at the same time. Also Aran'gar's PoV show that she is concerned with the Rebels above anything else. Furthermore, RJ's various comments on Taim make pretty clear that he is an individual character, not a Forsaken in disguise. Taim's special knowledge would be explained, if he was trained by Ishy some time ago. Besides, IIRC Taim is stronger in the OP than Aran'gar. Finally, with "playing at her own game" Aran'gar obviously implies that another Forsaken posed as Sammael. This means Aran'gar's game was as well to imitate another Forsaken, not Taim. It makes some sense that Aran'gar was actually the person who sent the DF Asha'man after Rand in WH in a Demandred-disguise.
