1. Asmodean is a darkfriend/Forsaken.
2. Moiraine might have foreseen in Rhuidean that Asmo had to die if Rand was to win.



She knew about Asmodean and wrote about him in the letter to Rand. She said she understood it was necessary but to be careful. If she thought he was dangerous she would have left it out or told Rand to kill him. If she saw he had to die and planned to do it herself, then there was no point in mentioning it to Rand in the letter.
