what about how Mat often mentions (to himself at least) how he doesn't really want to be near Rand, etc. You think this is just posturing? Or is their friendship pretty much done and they will just do what they need to do now to finish the last battle?
Mat is just afraid. Afraid of the OP which Rand wields, and the taint and the madness that brings. He is afraid that Rand will go insane and kill him. Beyond that, I think he still considers Rand a friend.
Learning that the Taint is clean may slowly make him a little more comfortable, and the fact that Rand will now presumably be stable will be a big help. I can also potentially see Rand talking to Mat about suddenly having the memories of another life in his mind, which is close to what Mat has experienced. This may bring them closer together.
