The Dragon's not destined to fight the DO, he's destined to seal him away. There is no way a mortal man can defeat the DO. Just being in the DO's presence makes strong men scream, and the last time the Dragon challenged the DO he was instantly driven insane.
Semantic twaddle. There is no way a mortal man can match the Creator's handiwork, either. Sealing the Dark One away is no more "possible" than facing him. Just because the fight can't end in death for the Dark One doesn't mean it is not a fight. I suppose Rand never fought Ba'alzamon over Falme since he couldn't manage to kill him? Whether by Sealing or killing him, Rand is still going to be going up against the Dark One and his efforts will be intended to stop the Dark One, who will resist being stopped.
When the Dragon has defeated the Shadow's pawns he'll be able to seal the DO away unabated.
That's your theory, and as such has no business being cited in an argument. Even if it is true, that still leaves the Dark One as the ultimate villain, and the one whose will and intentions are causing all the problems of the story. The Dragon is the Creator's pawn. The Forsaken are the DO's. Neither of the deities may enter the fight. The Creator says so in the first book.
He does not. He says (if, in fact, that was him) that he chooses to take no part. The Dark One doesn't seem to give a flying hoot about that rule, given his intention and desire to touch the world directly. The Dragon is not the Creator's pawn, as the Creator is not even playing.

RJ finally got a villain right, then killed him in the same book.

The Forsaken are not THE villain(s), they are cannon fodder!

And that's why they're crappy villains

Cannoli misses the point. The Forsaken are all villains. It is the Dark One that is the true evil

The Forsaken are henchmen. Like the eels in The Little Mermaid or the hyenas in The Lion King

The Dark One is the threat. He is the enemy from whom the world needs saving, NOT the Forsaken
