RJ said that it's definitely possible to figure out who killed Asmo with just he infos we got before LoC, and that the answer should even be obvious in a way. The books after TFoH just contain indirect clues (e.g. that certain suspects are definitely ruled out in their PoV, etc.). That basically means you can name Asmo's killer, even if TFoH were the last WoT book ever written. The main clues aren't in the books after TFoH.
Since Ishy died in the end of TDR and neither SH nor the Forsaken transmigration were formally introduced to us before LoC, it's simply not possible to figure out that a Slayer-like Moridin/SH-combo killed Asmo (or it's at least not obvious in any sensible way).
Besides that, RJ told that the murder wasn't ordered by the DO, which doesn't make that much sense if SH was involved.
The question, if it was obvious before LoC or ACoS that Ishy will eventually return, has nothing to do with the question who obviously killed Asmo in the end of TFoH.
If you read Bashere's PoV it's even more clear that he isn't a DF than that he isn't under someone's Compulsion. He e.g. uses words like "the Forsaken" or "by the Light". Bashere is also concerned about Saldaea being able to fight the Blight, etc.
It also makes no sense that the Forsaken search for the seals and sent assassins to Bashere's camp, if he is a DF and would give them the seal or any informations about it, if they just ordered him to do it.
There is actually nothing extraordinary about Bashere appearing in the Caemlyn palace in the end of TFoH. As Bashere explained, he obviously already stayed in Caemlyn, then heard the rumors about Rand in the - at this time pretty much deserted - palace, went there with wine as a present to greet Rand and eventually found him.
Finally, we don't even know if Asmo found the pantry, he just searched for it. In any case, it makes no sense to leave a Gateway open that long immediately behind a door, if the plan was to let Bashere infiltrate Rand's group without raising suspicion.
Again, balefire is a sufficient factor on its own to prevent transmigration, as RJ told us. Nothing suggests that the DO can't transmigrate someone standing at a crossroad or with one foot in a Gateway. The very idea is completely absurd.

Friends of the Dark exist by choice. Ingtar didn't like, but he was.
Bashere is much like him.

I think it's the only way how you can combine HOW and WHERE.
