I always figured he might have had a hand in driving Masema insane and influencing him to start all the Dragonsworn rioting, pilfering, murdering, etc. I'm not sure if any of the characters seen with Masema at any point could have been Demandred in disguise, but I did read a theory on that a few years back.


An idea I just thought of is that the real Masema (up to TDR) died sometime during tSR, and Demandred took his place. Granted, it's unlikely, but he does undergo a radical character change, the the extreme devotion to Rand could be ironic since he hates him so much.
