There was a line in one of the earlier books where one of the supergirls I believe thought Nynaeve wouldn't be happy until she resurrected someone who was three days dead. A lot of people assumed this was foreshadowing that Nynaeve would resurrect Rand after TG.

I wonder if instead this refers to Lan. Honestly, I don't want to see Lan killed off and Malkier forever lost. First, RJ has spent so much time building up Lan's past and the fall of Malkier and so on that it would simply suck ass if he pulled this. Some writers would do this for the sake of "art", some people defend this as great art or courageous or realistic, but I find it tasteless. To build up an audience's expectations and then basically crush them to me feels like saying to them, "Screw you". And it doesn't feel like something RJ would do, he seems to know what the readers want and gives it to them (ok, it may take a million books, but he still does it. )

But it could happen. There was the scene in tGS where Rand realized where Nynaeve had sent Lan, and was coldly willing to sacrifice his life for his own plans. This presented a stronger possibility for Lan's death to me rather than the sneering requirements of "true art".

If Lan dies, this is what I want to see: a greiving Nynaeve refusing to accept it and bringing him back to life with the OP, in line with that whole "three days dead" bit. Even if she fails to do that, I want to see him become a sort of martyr that rallies the forces of the Light against the Shadow, and a rebirth for Malkier after the Light's victory at the end.
