....there's the whole "they're seeing through my eyes, they may even know we're coming" angle Mat is now wrestling with.

Mat "losing an eye(s)" may have nothing directly to do with the Finn (in terms of a bargain or torture), but rather due to Mat taking a calculated gamble. (ie: He's got AS to heal eye injuries with him, after the fact)
