Honestly seems to be something that was kind of (but not entirely) disregarded as the series went on. If I'm correct, the cords emanating from the male Forsaken acted as a kind of siphon for the taint on Saidin, allowing the male Forsaken to channel any amount for however long (of course, within their limits) without having any taint touch them. Asmodean had these cords before Rand severed them and Lanfear quasi-shielded him to be a teacher. Rahvin didn't, if I'm remembering correctly. Seems to be a plot device that was never treated as concrete "Randland" law.
