Moridin did tell Graendal in TGS to cause Rand pain of heart.

We don't know everything Graendal had been up to before she died. Elayne and Mat's POVs are also well behind Rands. It is possible that Elayne is being interfered with by Graendal or Lanfear. I see Elayne's reaction as very odd given how favorably she was looking upon Mat. Rand's balefiring of Graendal may have more far-reaching consequences than we can possibly realize.

If Elayne is being tampered with the shadow right now, then the shadow also knows exactly where Mat's camp is sitting. This could be an interesting book...
