Elayne, if she was in it - I only read it once - probably spent most of her time going on about being pregnant and deciding what dress to wear.
And there must have been lots of sniffing and adjusting of shawls, and other tedious descriptive passges too.
But I think my main gripe was the lack of overall story development - yes, people highlight the political aspects and the pause for breath prior to the final four books and TG. I felt as though I had read most of what it contained in the previous two or three books.
But the most damming of criticisms - of sorts - came from RJ himself. He admitted it was a mistake to set a five hundred plus page book over one day. And given his time again, he would have written it differently.
