- Verin is, as far as we know, the first Black Ajah who didn't really want to be a member. ...You can nitpick almost anything to pieces if you try hard enough.
The way they recruit, I don't doubt for a second that other members have been reluctant (although I'm sure they try to "scout" potentials as well as possible)
The very existence of the Black Oaths show that they fear betrayal from within.
In the (what? more than 2000?) years of the White Tower, you don't think anyone's ever gone "Join the Black Ajah, or die? I don't wanna die!" before?
(Yes, I know that's different from the reasons Verin joined, but it works out the same. A basically good person is now in the Black Ajah.)
