They keep him at bay... fionwe1987 Send a noteboard - 19/10/2010 09:56:19 PM
So, it appears that Perrin's presence is also keeping vermin away from food, in a kind of mini-Randesque way. People joining Perrin's group are all surprised at how their food doesn't spoil (all this from Chapter 2).

I was tempted to say this was the effect of ta'veren...

Then I realized Egwene has been doing it too!

Weirdly enough, the Keepings begin to fail among the Rebels only after Egwene gets captured. However, at the same time, the Keepings are working in the Tower (according to Tarna and Elaida), when Egwene is a captive there.

People suspected that the reason was that Aran'gar was interfering with the Keepings in the Rebel Camp. This never made sense, since the Aes Sedai would have tested for male residues after the murder of Anaiya, and anyway, why wouldn't Mesaana do the same?

As far as I know, Elayne's presence hasn't had a similar effect, but it could be happening.

Nynaeve might be doing the same thing, but maybe Rand's negative aura was cancelling it out?

At the very least, it seems the ta'veren are keeping the DO's negative effects from the vicinity, and this may extend to other important characters like Egwene as well.
