Rand was using an angreal to channel and pulling up all sorts of LTT memories for weaves when he confronted her. She had warned Asmodean not to teach him too much or make him too powerful. Her conclusion would have been that Asmodean had lied and gone back on their bargain.

Rand was using clubs of Air. I think we can safely say LTT was capable of much more. And where did she warn Asmo of any such thing? She wanted him to train Rand so he could stand up to other Foresaken like Rahvin and Sammael. That required making Rand a top of the line channeler. Certainly, he needed to be able to make more than clubs of Air.

Lanfear may not be the only reasonable candidate, but certainly it's not an "outlandish" theory to suggest she's the killer.

It is, since she has no motive, and if she wished for it from the Finns, the crime doesn't become a crime of opportunity.
