Why introduce the concept of Mesaana's Children with no purpose? The part I'm not sure of is the Demandred controlling Taim and her giving up control to him. That seems out of any FS character IMO. She wants to be NB as much as the next FS so I can't see her giving up control of so many Channelers to anyone.
But I have long assumed Mesaana had some involvement with the Novices... Regardless of her disguise it seems then kind of thing that she would fall back on. Then there is the fact that Egwene didn't make the Novices swear on the OR to see if any were DFs... Another potential way Mesaana could have defeated the OR... Pose as one of the new Novices.
