I was hoping the villains to be defeated and punished in more original ways but at least I can be prepared to be disappointed.

It didn't even make much sense. Graendal had a decent plan. Ta'veren defeated her. People like Ishamael have not been punished for similar mistakes.

And the worst thing is... as she points out, she is still an asset. But no, all that is done. She will soon be the rape victim who'll probably be mindtrapped.

She even started yelling in terror, which seemed so out of character. It was really pissing off.


I think it makes perverse sense that the Shadow is not only sexist but unfair. You are right that others have made even larger mistakes and not been punished in a similar manner, notably, Lanfear, but is that really not believable? Don't you think it's kind of appropriate that the Dark One is so arbitrary?
