It was the Breaking and the need to pass on knowledge that lead to most of the traditions surrounding the tests used to judge Accepted and Aes Sedai. The Age of Legends was a softer time, and all that was conceivably needed was a desire to use your talents for the greater good, and possibly passing certain scholastic and skill-based tests of your channeling ability.
