So... you didn't get enough of it from the last... what? 4 books?
*head explodes*
I admit that it can seem a little rushed, but in no way is this plot "over" in the sense that there are no more consequences. It's just that those consequences will likely happen in a decade or so, not right now.
Really, we had Elayne's preparations to take the Sun Throne, saw her getting allies, saw how she planned to cement the two nations together. We know that her chief adversaries likely won't come against her for a while, until The Last Battle has finished, at least, so they can build up power.
There really isn't anything interesting to tell without jumping a decade into the future.
---
Oh, and in regards to the long, monologuing thoughts of characters...
yeah. Sanderson does that. Read any of his books, and you'll see it a LOT. Usually I don't mind, because whatever they're thinking about it pretty interesting, but it is one of those things where once you notice it, you can't un-notice it.

Yes. I personally would've liked all that to be more detailed.

8/10. Fairly solid plotwise with some great moments but structurally flawed. *NM*

It was ok. Not brilliant but certainly better than a lot of the middle ones.
