Infact I have long been annoyed that healing someone who has been stilled/gentled was supposedly something that was unknown in the AoL, but so easily discovered by two separate totally inexperienced healers who did not even work together. The AoL'ers should have EASILY been able to discover that and heal someone who had been severed from the source.

I guess they didn't search for a way to Heal Severing, as it was a punishment. Maybe one or the other individual tried to find a way, but I'm quite sure Paaren Disen quickly discouraged all those attempts.
Additionally, I can't imagine that anyone nearly as STUBBORN as Nynaeve existed in the AoL.
Am I evil? Yes I am!
