In a time when the Wolfking raises his barrier and prepares to go to war, the Heroes have already been called, and all manner of things heralding Tarmon Gaidon are occurring, she might have figured that she may have need of a sword before the bottom completely falls out?
She goes on and on throughout the series about just being a simple Archer ... and now suddenly she changes something as fundamental as this?
