I'm serious. I'm losing sleep over this man cuz' someone mentioned this to me and I don't think that's appropriate...but was this the interpretation? The deleted epilogue of ToM probably said something like, 'Slayer you lost the dream spike, so I'm going to give you another one-- take your pants off so I can give it to you.'
Next time Perrin sees Slayer is he going to be like, 'What's the deal'yo, why are you walking with a limp, I thought I stabbed you in the chest?'
Shaidar Haran's smile at Graendal in the epilogue pretty much convinced me on how exactly the DO punishes those who fail. Since Slayer failed in his duties . . .
he has sex with him. But he's the freaking Dark One, a supreme being, a deity if you will. I don't really get how having sex with a deity is supposed to demean you.
Don't get me wrong, rape is still rape, but you'd think the embodiment of evil would have better forms of punishment than having sex with his minions when they screw up. Screwing the screw-ups (hehe, I'm so clever).

True. However, think of it like this. The DO's cap-lock key is broken. Now, that's just his voice. How do you think that carries over into other areas??? Besides, do you really think the embodiment of all evil is going to take the time to get a good review on his performance?

he's still their deity of sorts. The closest analogy I can think of from world myth is Zeus and Io... and it's not really close. Zeus just randomly borked Io, one of his wife's priestesses (it wasn't punishment or anything like that, but it was coercive and some might even say it was rape). I wonder if there is any sort of underlying theme this is being borrowed from? It just seems like a terribly non-creative punishment, one that might even be a turn-on for some (one?) of his followers (moral hazard??).
