It's just from the entire series. Moridin is the Dark One's #1 human, he obviously understands the battle better/differently than other Darkfriends (that is, the other Forsaken envision ruling the world, Moridin knows that everyone will just be eaten), he concentrates on "turning" Rand rather than killing him...

Rand is the same. He is realizing that the Last Battle isn't something as simple as a simple sword duel. He sees the philosophical side of the battle. Plus, of course, there's the whole "Dragon Reborn, chosen one of the Creator, mankind's last and only hope, etc and so forth" thing.
