It's either a deliberate trap, or some side effect of the Rand-Moridin merging. Since Moridin has Lanfear mindtrapped, she is likely connected to his mind in some way, and so could theoretically have turned up in Rand's.

But I don't think it's likely. I think it's probably a trap.
