To be honest, tho, what is Moggy's style? newyorkersedai Send a noteboard - 28/11/2010 08:29:56 PM

The attempt in Amadicia and Masema were the only attemps made on Perrin, so if Graendal is right that Cyndane and Moghedien were trying to accomplish those orders, it has to be one or the other who's behind it. Cyndane appearing as a divine version of Rand makes a lot more sense than Moghedien doing it. It has the style of Lanfear all over it, IMO.

I'm not saying that it's not Cyndane's style, just that it's hard to pin down Moghedien's approach to the same problem. We've seen the latter use pawns/tools (the BA 13), we've seen her get up close and personal for recon (w/Nyn and Elayne in the hotel, the BA 13) as well as for seizing prizes and attach (Maigdin, the Museum). We've seen her go to SL yet watch the whole time, and is renowned for hiding.

When I rail about the forsaken being (a little) unsatisfying, I mean things like not being able to say that Masema's evil Rand-Rapture isn't also reasonably in Moghedien's style. Although I'll say that I'd be satisfied to know that Cyndane was behind it; it's certainly her style, and it's a nice way to stab back at the man who turned his back on her. I'm saying that it would've been much more enjoyable, as a reader, to know that once again Lanfear is using dreams against the EF Three. Since she went after all of them before (TGH, tDR), it's a nice symmetry.
