Whatever the case, the shadowspawn are going to be hard to kill. What I'm a little curious about is why we haven't seen the DO exercise his will in other places, such as when the Trollocs attacked the Whitecloaks in ToM.
Well, probably because DomA's hypothesis is false. There is no supporting evidence anywhere in the novels for the DO being able to take such direct action; but lots of character POVs stating that he can't.
