So what stopped Lanfear from flicking him against the skull with a surprise club of Air... Shannow Send a noteboard - 04/02/2011 02:33:53 PM

Rand could feel the Source ebbing while Lanfear was shielding him. It was his only clue, so he knew where the weave was. When she later used pain weaves he didn't know where they were, so he mentioned that he needed to strike blindly. Luckily he found his target.

Lanfear had a warning that he would try something when he tried to catch her in Air. After that she probably started placing defensive measures. Its the only reasonable way she could slice a rain of blows. The fact that he could force her back against the wagon implies that she had an instant's warning to react, and each time it got closer. I actually think Rj portrayed it superbly, which is why Rand showed such remorse that he didn't use lightning or fire.

...and thus knocking him unconsious. While blindly lashing out, he can attack consistent weaves pushing at his connection to the Source, but a split second blow to the back of his skull would have been completed before he even knew it was coming.

She could have knocked him out without him even knowing what hit him.
