I totally missed reading through the series the first time that Mat is in part responsible for the Seanchan coming in earnest, as when he is drunk once, he starts asking people about seeing The Daughter of the Nine Moons, and a Seanchan scout/spy overhears him and thinks this is a sign that people want the Return to come. I don't have the books with me, so I'm little fuzzy on the details, but that blew me away when I realized it.
