Perrin intentionally made Faile jealous of Berelain to make her stay away from him to get on with his moronic plan to give himself up to the Whitecloaks. Then Faile came up with the really childish "He has to beg, otherwise can't join our group" idea when they were travelling through the Ways.
Then Faile kept hitting him in anger. Finally he had enough spanked her. Again both were idiots as far as I am concerned. Thank God they got over it and the second half of TSR is their best moment as a couple.
