Egwene never objected to Gawyn having a differing opinion from her. What she objected to was him openly disobeying her and standing outside her rooms like an unwelcome guard dog, and then stalking her wherever she went.
You don't need a political reason for disliking that.
You don't need a political reason for disliking that.
And possibly an explanation as to why this is not a good idea, rather than blind orders and oblique challenges to prove his worthiness as a Warder. The very NAME of the job suggests protection as the primary purpose. Only Egwene would think unthinking obedience takes precedence. Most people would say that by scaring off the first Bloodknives attack, he did exactly what a Warder should do. Also, no Warder gives a flying f*ck about Tower politics and so forth when they conflict with the life of his charge.

Which was why I thought it was appropriate, since he meant to act as Egwene's Warder.

The only issue is that Warders are not minions - they are honored junior partners.

No, the junior partners are Accepted. Warders are essentially personal bodyguards and/or assistants.

Accepted are not anything, let alone junior partners. Don't think N&E's experience was typical
