I always assumed he had to use Callandor to "sheathe the sword" Tom Send a noteboard - 16/05/2011 08:07:09 PM
Callandor being "the sword that is not a sword", I'm assuming it's a way to keep Rand alive as a last resort. It could even be that part of what made him the Dragon Reborn was that part of Lews Therin's life was still in Callandor - when did Rand start hearing the voices, anyway?

Rand runs himself through with Callandor to survive.

And my God you go on about this series.
Political correctness is the pettiest form of casuistry.

– Procopius

Right; I've got a bad habit of ascribing that Foretelling to Alivia rather than Nicola. - 15/05/2011 06:01:53 PM 6496 Views
Rand's "death" might serve to slap some sense into the senseless, arrogant, power-mongers... - 16/05/2011 08:09:26 PM 651 Views
