I had thought this must be Hopper. He has known death--at the hands of the whitecloaks. He died, again, atop the White Tower.

I don't know. Makes as much sense to me as Ituralde, or Slayer, anyway. Slayer's death would not necessarily bring "fear and sorrow to the hearts of men." Nor would it "shake their very will itself," I think.
