Those are all excellent points, and nicely made! Stereotypes can be cheap and hurtful, and I can totally believe that they have a root in our need for quick decision-making. You're right to point ot basic responses, as many animals will someone or -thing if it's ever near the animals' offspring. There, the stereotype is "it's near my kids and it's gonna harm them, so die now."

Charismatic non-evil vampires? Now that's another problem...
