Thanks for reminding me, redqueen. I think the best way to reform is to have Rand gather the clan chiefs and Wise Ones and, in effect, tell them, "Guys, if you want to maintain your traditional ways (blood feuds, fighting, ji e'toh), go back to the Waste. If you stay in the wetlands, then take up the Way Of The Leaf, either AOL-style or Tinker-style."

Either style of the Way of the Leaf (what is the difference you perceive between the two, anyway? ) is morally bankrupt, societaly parasitic and makes the current Aiel mindset and lifestyle (and I say this as their most outspoken critic on this site) look healthy.

The difference I perceive is this: in the AOL, the Daishan Aiel were not only dedicated to peace but serving the Aes Sedai. The Tinkers are dedicated to peace but live a nomadic lifestyle, with no fixed occupation and convinced that finding the Song will bring back the good old days. (Which ain't going to happen unless there's a recipe for creating Nym in that bronze library ter'angreal currently in Elayne's possession.)

And btw, Cannoli, Egwene rules!
