Well, she did say that her solution was blocked (albeit by her toh for Rand saving her from Lanfear) Cannoli Send a noteboard - 14/01/2012 11:30:46 PM
because Rand is the Car'a'carn, the whole Aiel nation are obligated by prophecy to follow him to Tarmon Gaidon and to be broken by him. Aviendha cannot kill Rand to fulfil her Toh to Elayne because doing so would mean that her entire race could not fulfil the obligation of prophesy or their vow to spit in the Dark One's eye.

By killing Rand over it, Aviendha would have doomed the entire world as well. That is why she had no way out of her Toh, even though it might have been the only way to fulfil it.

This might have been another reason why she would not have been able to meet her toh in this manner, though Aiel honor being what it is, I would be surprised if this comes into consideration. In LoC & tFoH, Rand is constantly frustrated at how little leeway being Car'a'carn affords him when he runs up against ji'e'toh. For instance, by the same logic, because it was necessry to protect the Car'a'carn, Sulin might have had an excuse to do what she did with the Maidens who were gai'shain, but as that episode makes clear, there are no excuses or mitigating circumstances under ji'e'toh, no doubt because the Three-Fold Land doesn't accept excuses.
