Tar Val-AHN is apparently how it should be pronounced. At least, that's how Brandon Sanderson pronounces it, and other people who have heard it from Robert Jordan himself. It sounds wrong, though, so I still pronounce it the other way.

That's how I said it the first time I read the books, and when I heard the audiobooks, it just sounded so different. But having listened to them a few times, I've gotten into the habit of using their pronunciations now
