My initial thoughts on it had to do with the properties of SG.

...the walls around the grounds, and the big black stone Taim made his announcements from.
The palace is white marble (with black columns, IRRC).
Terez who asked Sanderson said he was on his guard a bit, wanting to know first why/because of what theory she asked that question (ie: it had the "could have missed anything in the books that would make it better to RAFO this?" feel).
In other words, it's probably no more than "interesting minutia". If it played any real role in AMOL, Brandon would have RAFOed this.

I don't expect the prophecy to be fulfilled like that, though several of my friends do. However, my first thought was that, as we know, the Pattern is "thinner" around SG, and therefore the DO's presence is more palpable there. What if that trait is somehow inherent in the stone, and that gave the DO a chance to unravel the wards around the Waygate in Caemlyn? Additionally, would that mean that he could potentially break out of the Bore somewhere other than SG?
Here's to keeping the spirit of Wotmania alive...cheers to RAFO
So apparently the palace at the Black Tower is made of Shayol Ghul stone...

Maybe Shaidar Haran's physical limitation to SG can be bypassed by moving tainted rocks elsewhere? *NM*

That is good logic, but the flip side is: Why would RJ bother to specify that if it were minutiae?

Wouldn't have taken any time away from creating the ending.

It just seems an odd thing to mention purely as background color.

His response certainly seem to raise more questions than it answers, perhaps deliberately.

Forgive me if I missed it, but I think the most obvious points haven't been discussed:

Be'laim FTW, but technically half the Andoran nobility is Rands blood.

The way RJ played up everything in the Blight (especially Shayol Ghul) being subsumed in the DO...
