When I read about what the Forsaken did in the AoL, I can't help but wonder why this sort of stuff isn't happening now. I mean, we've got the AoL as an example, and those wars went on for years and years. Granted, the armies of today aren't as large as those armies were back then, but I can't help but wonder what the shadow has been doing. I mean, in the long long years since a truly epic attack has happened, what has stopped them from having ten times as many men as all the good guys put together?

Maybe it's just the defeatist attitude in me, but it seems like Trollocs should breed rapidly enough (or whatever they do, since you never seem to see female trollocs) to have tons of them by now. Why don't they just come out of the blight and overrun the earth, like in the other world that we saw in The Great Hunt?
