that Mat's ties to the Horn was severed in TFOH, but few ever suggested someone else would blow the Horn, as everyone or close seemed to agree it was a good joke that Mat tought himself still bound and would just go and bind himself to the Horn a second time.

Olver had not been entirely ignored, but I don't recall anyone nailing him down as possible hornsounder. His tie to the Horn had been brought up before, though. He's bloody named after Olivier, the owner of the Horn in the French medieval ballad La Chanson de Roland that's about as famous as the Arthurian legends, so for those who knew it it, we expected Olver would be present when the Horn was sounded. But RJ knew we'd expect that, so he twisted it around (Olivier in the ballad never sounds his Horn, he dies before he can. His friend Roland does in his place. RJ had Olver sound the Horn, and RJ's Roland (Faile's Rolan) was hardly his friend, more like an ally of the people Olver hates the most in the world. And he died a red herring's death.
