I don't think he is a better writer overall than RJ. In fact, I think it's not even a contest. I can't get through most of Sanderson's books (except Elantris).

But I do think he has redeeming qualities, and that RJ could have done with a little more brevity here and there. Even though I really like the minutae and world building and found Winter's Heart quite good, I can concede that Darkfriend sub-plot #467 started to get a little tedious sometimes.
