Demandred thought that Lan was so skilled that he might be Asmodean reborn. Asmodean is thus a skilled swordsman.
Either Demandred vastly overrated Asmodean's skill with the sword or Sanderson forgot this scene from TFoH:
...Asmodean, sword held awkwardly and trying to look every way at once in case any Trolloc decided to turn back. Rand could sense saidin in him, though weakly; he did not think much of Asmodean's fighting had been with that blade.
So how much of AMOL was real - i.e. RJ's intention, as opposed to Branfiction?
