He laid the groundwork for many plot-twists, but failed to use most of them, IMHO.

I think you're right. However, I have ALWAYS wondered if we were attributing too much cleverness to him. Or, maybe he really was uber-sneaky, but indulged himself too much to really zero in on the topics (hence the bajillion books that probably would have been better off as 7 or so).

That's true. I mean, I tend to forget which things I "learned" from wotmania (vs picking up from the actual writing), so I don't always realize when I've been gyped. Does that make sense?

See, this is what I miss. I don't feel particularly insightful, I just feel curious about all the different viewings, foreshadowings, etc that don't seem to have had any depth. I mean, Alivia, seriously? Did I miss something?



View original postWhat is more frustrating is that RJ said many times that he knew the ending when he started writing the story. He should have spent some time fleshing it out once the story grew much bigger than I think he originally planned.

I am of the opinion that he meant to beef up the chapters before the epilogue, so we would have presumably received more character content early on (rather than needing such a dose in the epilogue). We keep talking about how our beloved characters were shorted, but that was not a Jordan fault, imo. If anything, he gave us too much detail.
