Interesting. My take was that the Pattern was the Master Stones player. Many pieces, and counter-moves to everything the DO tries. Meanwhile, the DO is playing Snakes and Foxes, and the only way he can win is by cheating.

Where once was Shadow
Now reigns Light
Darkness fades
Into the Night
