What I'm trying to say and what you are missing is that while Semi "rarely lies" that is "never lies" and she WILL lie if it works to her favor. What I'm trying to convey is that to take ANY of Semi's statements at face value just because "she rarely lies" isn't terribly smart. I personally think she painted the blackest picture possible (or maybe even impossible) merely because she could and it would
a) give her pleasure
b) sow discord and doubt amongst her enemies
Just because she says "Graendal this and that" doesn't mean they are inevitible facts. That they are believeable is even better for her.
Yes, it's entirely possible that Rand is on a path to "terminal madness" but it's only a possibility, not the certainity that Semi states.
I've posted elsewhere my thoughts on Rand's sanity, I'll not go into them here. Needless to say they are based on information NOT obtained from Semirhage.

I haven't really based anything on the 'rarely lies' thing - it's too recent to be use anyway. I believed what Semirhage said because it's not new information to us. In my opinion, that is the reason Rand is mad. I would have been equally happy if Cadsuane or Rand had said what Semirhage had said.
